Research: Aromatherapy Massage & BP/Sleep

OilsTowelonWhiteA recent study published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine has shown that aromatherapy massage helps lower blood pressure and improve sleep quality. 3 groups of middle-aged women were evaluated. The experimental group had aromatherapy massage (i.e. with real essential oils) once a week and body cream daily. The placebo group had massage with fragrance oil (i.e. synthetic fragrance) once a week and body cream daily. The control group had no treatment. The results were encouraging for aromatherapists: There was significant difference between experimental group and placebo groups, with experimental group subjects reporting lower blood pressure and improved sleep quality.

Hooray for alternative and complementary medicine!

And by the way, did I mention that I do not charge extra for aromatherapy massage…?
