Research: Reflexology & Cardiac Index

iStock_000012579601XSmallA new study looked at the effect of a reflexology intervention, but applying pressure to points of the foot that are mapped to organs of the body. 16 subjects were tested, all of the them “reflexology naive.” The result was the the cardiac index decreased significantly when pressure was applied to the area mapped to the heart. Per the comments on the study, reflexology has not been rigorously tested for haemodynamic effects during treatment, so this is an exciting development.
